The East of England Show has announced this year’s dates and a packed calendar of new and exciting attractions for the region on July 6,7 and 8th. An outdoor evening concert, Friday’s Ladies Day, a brand new ‘green’ business hub, shopping village, a programme of interactive children’s events, food court and of course over 1,000 animals on show will make this year’s event unmissable.

Thousands of visitors from across the region are expected to attend the show – held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough – which in its hey day attracted 160,000 visitors.

Now in its 44th year at the Showground, the 2012 event sees an ambitious plan to recreate the countryside atmosphere but with a very modern twist.

“This is the biggest family show in the city’s annual calendar – we want it to be a true celebration of the countryside, in all its many guises and one that has something for everyone,” explained Andrew Riddington, Show committee chairman.

“While we continue to stage our traditional favourites including the livestock and equine shows, the prestigious Championship Dog Show and the floral and garden competitions, we also want to introduce some new themes,” added Paul Tate, interim Show secretary.

“In addition to this, family fun is a top priority on all three days with a multitude of interactive events lined up. It’s about getting involved, taking part, really getting something out of the weekend and leaving feeling you’ve had a great day out and only had to travel as far as the showground to do so!”

The East Anglian Game & Country Fair is an annual two day, family event held at the Norfolk Showground, Norwich. Next year's show will be held on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th April 2011.

We welcome world class events and attractions to the show each year including famous horse behaviourist Richard Maxwell, 6 times FITASC Sporting World Champion, European Champion and English Open Champion John Bidwell, who will be performing his off the hip shooting demonstration and new for 2011 Savage Skills the UK’s leading freestyle mountain bike stunt team perform their interactive and jaw dropping ‘Ultimate Air Show’ display.

We welcome dogs on leads and there is plenty for them to do also! Mid Norfolk Gun Dog Club will be running the Gun Dog Scurry competitions and ‘have a go’ over the weekend. Enter your canine friend into the Dog Agility and Jumping competitions and ‘have a go’ arenas, the Pet Dog Show or even the popular Terrier & Lurcher Show which take place on Sunday at 11am, which will be a qualifier for all major championships as well as the East Anglian Championship. A dog crèche is also available at the show run by Samsalin Dog Rescue so if you need to leave you dog somewhere safe for a couple of hours you can.

Get involved and 'have a go' at a range of country activities from clay shooting with John Bidwell’s High Lodge instructors or enter the 40-bird re-entry shooting competition. Fly fishing with the Salmon and Trout Association, ferret racing, Dock Dogs and archery to mountain boarding,

There are over 250 shopping stands with a great selection of products from Gunmakers, country clothing stands, fishing tackle, home wares and jewellery, a craft hall and a mouth watering food hall where you can sample some fantastic local produce. The ‘Game Fair Country Kitchen’ cookery theatre has a fantastic variety of cookery workshops and demonstrations taking place over the weekend from a great selection of local chefs, including game & rabbit cooking, grow your own vegetables master class with Home Grown Revolution and writer Keith Reeves plus performances from celebrity chefs, Chris Coubrough, Franck Pontais and TV Presenter Alan Coxon.
